The Andantes, which consisted of Jackie Hicks, Marlene Barrow & Emily Philips, who would later be replaced by Louvain Demps, sang background on countless Motown hits, but they hardly received credit.
They were on call 24 hours, having to be ready at a moments notice to back up whatever artist in the studio at that time.
Some of the artists who the Andantes backed were the Supremes, the Four Tops (which was an ongoing collaboration), Martha & The Vandellas, the Tempts and many more.
