It goes without saying that Claudette was the one who really made this group unique seeing as she was the only female in the background...but do any of you all think she could have been lead like Gladys K or even solo ...If yes which Motown songs by her female counterparts do you think Claudette could have recorded

She could have been given more leads within the group I think, but solo, I don't know. I think a duet would have been nice with Smokey, Ronnie or Bobby. I don't know how she and Pete would've sounded, but possibly a nice change. I'm hearing she and Smokey or Bobby on I'll Try Something New.

But I agree with ((Cherie)) in saying if Claudette had more duets with all the guys that would have made the group even more versatile and really stand out from the Gladys/Pips set up I think she would have sounded good singing Mary Well's He Holds His Own

I like Claudette's voice and I think it would have been nice if she were given more leads if not a one off album. I feel she could have sang a few early song's like Mickey's Monkey

So going by the verdict I guess it's a no as a solo act lol... but you all are right...more duets would have made the group even more unique ... ((Motowner)) even if that was their gimmick to have Claudette duet on the ballads alone would have been a treat, because she had the voice for it ... ((Cherie)) & ((Rainy)) I think your choice's would have been real easy for Claudette too

Darling Baby by the Elgins. I can not recall the exact year but I feel Claudette would have done very well with early Motown material
