From Michigan Chronicle - July 27
On Sunday, August 21, there will be a special gospel concert titled "Motown Sings Gospel Music" at Holy Hope Heritage Baptist Church, 18641 Wyoming. The concert, which starts at 7pm, will feature, among others, Joe Billingslea's Contours the original Vandellas (Rosalind Ashford-Holmes & Annette Helton) the Miracles (including originalmember Bobby Rogers and Duke Fakir of the Four Tops.
The concert will also commemorate the fifth anniversary celebration of the Rev. Dr. William Revely-El, Holy Hope Heritage pastor.
Although Motown Record Corporation moved to Los Angeles in the early 70's, numerous artists (and musicians) chose to remain on Detroit. "Motown Sings Gospel Music" will feature many of them.
Tickets, which are $20, may be acquired by way of the church office, (313) 861-5005, or Julie Bigham, (313) 837-8719. Also, they can be picked up at the church on Saturday, Aug. 20, between 9am. and 2pm.
There will be a meet the stars reception following the concert.
