For Immediate Release!
CALL THE CHILDREN HOME
Talk is cheap! In the aftermath of the recent shooting death of high-schooler Deliesh Allen-Roberts in Los Angeles, March 2005, there was a public outcry that seemed to be the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. Many are now saying enough is enough, and are ready to do something about it.
Singer/songwriter Larry Buford is working on a project to help keep focus on the challenges our youth are facing today. He is soliciting the remaining singers and musicians of the original Motown sound to re-record a song he wrote entitled "Call The Children Home".
Buford points out, there are cases like Deliesh's happening everyday all across America.Already he has gotten endorsements and/or commitments from such artists as Brenda Holloway (Every Little Bit Hurts); Claudette Robinson (the former Mrs. Smokey Robinson); Janie Bradford (who wrote among others, songs like "Money", and "Too Busy Thinkin"Bout My Baby"); and Cornelius Grant (the former musical director for the world-famed Temptations). Others include Freda Payne ("Bring The Boys Home"), and her sister Scherrie Payne (a former member of the Supremes); and the Velvelettes ("Needle In A Haystack").
Says Buford, "Call The Children Home" was scheduled to be recorded by the late David Ruffin (lead singer of the Temptations) shortly before he died in 1991. He said he really liked the song, and wanted to do it in the style of Marvin Gaye "What'sGoing On". He says the song title could very well become a battle cry for parents, and will be used in public service announcements as in the day when the TV announcer would say "10:00 do you know where your children are"?
Buford's objective to bring the focus back to parenting has also gotten the interest of teachers, journalists, politicians, and ministers. His appeal to those who made such popular songs as "My Girl", " Stop! In The Name Of Love", "Ooo Baby Baby", and countless others that people say were partly responsible for bringing a lot of babies into the world, is to now give something back in a "We Are The World" type fashion. Grant offered, the artists from that [Motown] era represented love, harmony, and respect qualities that are not prevalent in today's media.
When Brenda Holloway first heard the title she said, something just went through me, please count me in! More details about the project will follow. Updates will be announced on Cornelius Grant's global I-WARM radio station accessed through www.siegecompany.com.
