Ray Charles' manager of 45 years was named executor of Charles' estate last week by Los Angeles Superior Court. The NBC TV station in Los Angeles reported Joe Adams "will have the power to administer the Charles estate under the Independent Administration Of Estates Act" -- meaning, Adams has final say on most of the matters involving Charles' estate, and he can act at will in most instances without prior court approval. In his will, Charles had personally appointed Adams his executor. Charles died on June 10 at age 73 of complications from liver disease.
Charles earned seven Grammy nominations last week for his posthumously released Genius Loves Company album.
