And yeah, I think Marvin credits the Funk Brothers with building him into the artist he became, same with Stevie.

In both artists, you can tell how Papacita, Pistol, Benny, Joe and 'em play a big part in their careers. Stevie always called Papacita one of his major influences, Earl Van Dyke was his mentor and teacher while Marvin always called James Jamerson the baddest bassist of all time and had Eddie all throughout his career even AFTER the Motown years.
