I've been having this wierd thought and i'm just wondering, if david sung lead on baby i need your loving, would you think it would be a bigger hit than the four tops? i wanna know what ya'll think on this 1!!!

Do you mean Ruff as a solo or as lead with the group ... I'm just comparing because on a solo version I imagine just the Andantes backing him up ... but even if it were the Temptations giving their own version I think it would have been a hit on the R&B charts

It wouldn't have sound right with the Temptations because they rarely had female background singers and only tried a few times with the Andantes (and later the Supremes) since the Temps were known for the five part harmony. The Four Tops and Andantes worked this song because it fit the type of drama that goes with being in love. Just the right groups for the right song. But if it had been recorded with just the Temptations, it would've been nice but it wouldn't had been a hit.
