I'm just a little curious, If Al Bryant had stayed with the temptations, do you think he'd change? I don't know anything about him to think that he'd need to change or want to change. I suppose everyone goes through or should go through periods of growth within a lifetime. Elbridge didn't want to stay with the group, he left or quit the Tempts, contrary to the story used in the movie and Otis Williams' book or other items, publications, etc, that he was fired. This thread is being moved to the Temptations board, where it belongs. Elbridge was an original Temptation

Well that story told by Otis in the book and in the movie contradicts itself. In the book, Otis said that Elbridge quit on the group after he got in a fight with Paul at the Motown Christmas party but in the movie it said Elbridge got fired by Otis after a fight with Paul at the Motown NEW YEARS' EVE party. So which is it, Otis? I think Elbridge wanted to go on and Paul didn't want to and they started fighting and then after Eddie or somebody broke it up, Elbridge said "that's it, I'm out of here." Elbridge actually had a family and from what I heard, was a committed family man. The site is down but on www.ritchie-hardin.com, you can read about Elbridge's exit from the Tempts and the beginnings of their journey on that site, whenever it finds a new server or something. That was a good site. HAD GREAT INFO ON THE TEMPTATIONS!

Basically...what ((FunkSis)) said IMHO the Tempts really needed the key change with Elbridge and Ruffin and later Ruffin to Edwards in order to become what they did...

Yeah, basically, I think Elbridge knew that the group would've been better without him there, lol.
