MOTOWN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION CONTRIBUTE TO TSUNAMI RELIEF
The Motown Alumni Association is doing their share in contributing to the Tsunami disaster abroad. The organization is developing it's own charitable relief website that will allow contributors, and their members to donate to the cause. The Motown Association Tsunami Relief Fund is up and available.
"Funds will be distributed to help Americans that need assistance in finding their loved ones, getting their relatives back to the states (if found deceased), and buying durable tents, blankets & pillows for the homeless in the most needed areas." said Billy Wilson president of the Motown Alumni Association.
He also said that the MAA is in the process of creating a fund raising CD that will encompass a number of Detroit music icons, and Motown's alumni contributing their voice and time to raise money for the CD project. Famed producer Michael Powell has agreed to assist in the project.
Powell is most recognized as the producer of R&B icon Anita Baker who sung amongst other popular songs of the 80's, the smash hit "Sweet Love". Other Detroit icons are expected to assist in the project. "The idea was created by Harmonie Park Studio director Brian Pastoria, and myself" said Wilson. "They (Harmonie Park) is helping to lead the charge to assist the needy."
The MAA Tsunami Relief Fund website will document the amount of funds contributors have donated, and document the day by day details on where the funds are going on it's website, "so that contributors can see where their dollars are going," said Wilson. A days end accounting will be posted on the website.
Also, the MAA is a 501(C)(3) organization, and contributions over $75 are tax deductible.
Contributions can be submitted either of two ways;
