Gwen Stefani Dedicates Song To Rosa Parks At Detroit Show
Gwen Stefani paid her respects to the late civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks over the weekend, in Parks' home town of Detroit. During her concert Saturday (October 29) at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Stefani dedicated her socially conscious "Long Way To Go," from her solo album Love*Angel*Music*Baby, to Parks. The song, which Stefani performs on the album with OutKast's Andre 3000, deals with race issues and ends with a quote from Martin Luther King, Jr.'s famous "I Have A Dream" speech in 1963 in Washington, D.C.
Parks died on October 24 in Detroit. Her funeral will be held Wednesday (November 2) at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit. Her body lay in state over the weekend in the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, and travels back to Detroit Monday (October 31) to begin a public viewing at the city's Wright Museum of African-American History.
Stefani continues her tour with Black Eyed Peas tonight at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston.

Way to go Gwen :respect: I liked that song from the first time I heard it. The production is a bit wacky (if your used to Andre3000's stuff you'll understand what I mean lol) but there is a clear message in the lyrics. A good gesture indeed
