Jean definitely was the better lead singer than Diane though this don't mean no disrespect to Diva Ross as she probably likes to be called... But Jean's vocals were right to lead a talented girl group. I'm sure if Jean had been the lead singer during the early years, we'll be hearing new music from the Supremes today - Jean, Mary & Flo or Cindy, whichever one came first. If Flo had her chance, she'd be taking names and be like "Aretha who?" That's what I think.

I think that in the early years, diana's voice wasn't all that annoying but as time went on, she sounded like a annoying little girl. if flo took all the leads, they would have more impact on the charts

Yeah, that's what I think. Now her voice I can actually deal with. When I heard her sing nasally, I was like "GOOD LAWD!!!" covering my ears and ish! But hey, when she got older, she was tolerable. And that's why I enjoy some of her later records. Hey we can hate all we want but most of us have at least ONE Diane joint or two with or without the group that we dig.

Proud to say it was nasally then and it stayed that way for me. Never wasted my hard earned money on her music nor did I enjoy it. Never was a fan of the voice, music or singer :notgettingit:

I think you're on ya own there because I don't own any of that heffa's stuff ;D Some of her solo songs are okay but I have seen and heard firsthand other folks execute em as if they were their own

LOL! Ok, I'm the guilty party. But surprisingly I love only one song. "Love Hangover" and it's the song she didn't sing much of. That's my jam! LOL!
And yeah, if Florence had been tagged to lead to give the Supremes an R&B fan base (because I don't believe there virtually was none, lol) and Diane the pop fan base than MAYBE I'll give them the credit for being diverse, lol.
Another thing Berry failed at. So dumb.

For all you Jean Terrell fans don't forget to purchase her only single album - I Had To Fall In Love. It is now in CD format-She had more to offer than Diana Ross. Jean was an outstanding lead vocalist for the group. Her voice was soulful and had a range that Ms. Ross could not hit.

I was contemplating purchasing the cd, I enjoyed just about all of her work in the Supremes.

In my opinion Jean is a much better singer then Ross, she had her own unique style. The one thing I always respect about Jean is that she did not try to follow the pattern of Ross, she did things her own way.
