To me....Florence Ballard was to the Supremes what Paul Williams was to the Tempts.......the forgotten star who always stayed back and blended with the rest...BUT... when at the mic....they would blow EVERYONE away with their dynamic soulful voices. What are your views on this great singer...... who left us wayyyy too soon

I strongly have to agree with this part here. Florence contributed alot to the Supremes sound and once she was gone it was truly the end of something special. Just listen to :stop: In The Name Of Love for example, and you'll hear how dominating and soulful her voice is over the chorus. But because she refused to suck up to Gordy her talents were highly ignored. The few leads she did get however, only prove how great she was and any real Supreme/Motown fan worth their salt can hear that she was the best vocalist the group ever had and will always be the greatest Supreme of all time! :angelwings:

All so true...Florence had, as Paul Williams had, one of the greatest, most unbelievable voices that never were showcased as they should have. True Motown fans and enthusiasts know about Flo's unbelievable talent :iwannasing:

Florence should have had more of her lead songs released as singles... I hear you ((Jazzy)), and I agree. But with Diane constantly given leads to help them maintain their crossover appeal to the Pop audience, who's to say how many songs Flo got a chance to lead when things really took off But word is The Lost & Found series will be starting up again soon. There is talk of one from Martha & The Vandellas, so maybe there will be one from the Supremes with more Flo than we hope
