Right. Stevie and Marvin's were more gritty and streetwise than Smokey's cookie-cutter vocals. Man, and some folks think he was "soulful". I actually think he was too pop even for Motown. And also why is he always more credited with making Motown the label it was when it was really these guys: The Funk Brothers William "Mickey" Stevenson Barrett Strong Marvin Gaye Mary Wells The rest of the Miracles ...and to a lesser degree, Berry Gordy, Jr. Only real reason why Smokey got what he got was because of his "friendship" with Berry Gordy, Jr. If that ain't the most, excuse my language but I think you know what I mean. Yeah ... I'd add Harvey, as you have and a few others. Bill got his by that old saying; it's not what you know, it's who you know. That's him to a 'T'!

I mean I know he's credited with producing a few tracks but got dang it if I'm wrong, sorry then. The both of them couldn't really sing all that good though, lol. That's what I'm sayin' my man OH! I gotcha now. :lol:

I think that the rest of the miracles along with marv tarplin should be in the hall of fame because they helped smokey write and produce all those hits. smokey couldn't do it all by himself if not for the help from the rest of the guys
