Smokey Robinson was inducted as a solo artist, not as a non performer/writer. I guess it's because he performed, but he was recognized more for his writing and as the frontman of the Miracles. The whole group should be inducted: I think they all deserve the honor!

It's only right that all are inducted afterall, they were there from the beginning, had the first top 40 hit and not to mention we all know that Claudette was Smokey's inspiration for at least 99% of those songs!

Yup have to agree..........it WAS a team effort. It happens to so many bands..............look at the Commodores and Lionel.....similar scenario............the "Front" man always seems to get the recognition.........and that's comin from a Smokeyite :idunno: Cheers QS

So True ((QS))
The leads always get more of the recognition in most cases; it's sad that the other Miracles aren't in the Hall.
I'm glad all of MY Tempts were acknowledged and same for the Four Tops, Gladys Knight and the Pips, J5 and Martha and the Vandellas. But where is the justice in the Supremes' case, poor Cindy gets no love!

I feel it for Cindy, she was dedicated and reliable. It was wrong for them to do her like that :notgettingit: But she'll always be Supreme in my book, the true definition of a team player

And as for the Miracles, they were there from the inception of Motown so there really was no need for Smokey to be singled out ....And did they also forget that Ronnie was occasionally Smokey's partener in crime for some of those timeless songs

It's sad that while Smokey gets ALL the accolades that the Miracles hardly got recognized. What is/was really going on with Smokey & the Miracles? I mean, what is really going on? Why ain't the Miracles there? Why ain't the Marvelettes there? Why ain't Mary Wells there? And these guys helped see Smokey's vision go through so what's the hold-up here? :suspect: Hopefully Smokey didn't get involved in any politricks to make him go in but not the group he came from. Even with his ego "tripping out", I bet if Marvin had been the lead singer, songwriter, producer and main guide, he would've made sure the Miracles had gotten in. Something sh*tty is going on with this! And they were the most consistent hitmakers of the label the first 17 years of the label. They even have one of the most influential disco jams of all time WITHOUT Smokey with "Love Machine"! This sucks, yo. LOL

Or Berry for that matter, I hope... oh I don't wanna seem psychic... but this is some b.s. The Miracles should've been in the first year they were eligible WHICH WAS 1987!

I'm sure it's no shock, but I think Ronnie White was really shafted. He 'co-wrote' so many of the so-called Smokey songs and gets zero credit. Zilch. Nada. Nothing. And why, I can't play any Motown CD, where he isn't a co-writer or lead writer, listed first. I want to know what really, how can they justify the Miracles not being inducted. I was reminded, recently, of an episode of an old Teen Town. The host was going on and on about Smokey Robinson; singer, writer, producer, VP, blah, blah, blah AND he wrote a number one for his group, Mary Wells, and most recently the Temptations' My Girl. Berry was the one to jump in with Ronnie White wrote My Girl too, unlike the 'help' Smokey mentioned in his tabloidography. Talk about Alzheimer's and what happens to your brain on drugs Yet another group member that recalls things a bit differently than we all had heard and KNOW. PS- Warren 'Pete' Moore has loads of co-writing credits with both Ronnie and Smokey and just Smokey. Bobby seems to be the only one that's cut from that shady, I mean 'smokey' type cloth; he let me help when he really didn't have to or something to that effect. What was really goin' on :whoknows:

What was really goin' on I know exactly which Teen Town you're talking about ((song)), I just find it strange that Berry will sometimes come out with the most random things when you least expect him too. It is also a shame that over a period of time we have come to find out that Smokey isn't exactly the type of gentleman we thought he was :notgettingit:

WOW! This is reminding me of when Cam'ron recently got at Jay-Z for "biting" many of the lyrics he copied for his classics. I mean, I know this is a wrong comparison, but wow, can it be possible Smokey bit off more the credit and didn't bother giving his band members like Bobby Rogers (who shares his d**n birthday) and Ronnie White and even Marv Tauplin more credit than they got. Hell, I believe Ronnie wrote the full lyrics to "My Girl". Lemme find out Smokey is a faker and a Berry Gordy ****-rider. And to Smoke: COCAINE IS A HELLUVA DRUG, AIN'T IT!?! THE MIRACLES NEED TO GET INDUCTED PERIOD! THEY WERE MOTOWN! NOT JUST SMOKEY! And even I wonder if Smokey was even ALL OF THAT! I didn't even know he wrote "Ain't that Peculiar" and "I'll Be Doggone" because it sounded so Marvinize as he put it, hell maybe Bobby & Marv Tauplin wrote those songs with Marvin, WHO KNOWS!?! :bonk:

I had to say something; you said it all, my man ... fake, d-boy AND give it up for Ronnie, Pete, Bobby, and Marvin T. - lyricists without credit. I mean, d@man ... At least when Gordy and Williamson jacked some tracks, their cuts weren't as much. Smokey want it all, don't he Berry & Smokey ... Poli-Tricks for the ... well you know where I'm going with this :hmph:
