At first glance, this song, redone by a duo of modern producers influenced by the stepper's music sound which was recently brought back to life by Chi-town (Chicago) R&B musician R. Kelly, could be seen as a retread to try to tag in the original great and timeless version of a classic and make it sound out of place. But then you hear it the tenth time and you realize the magic of the song. This was the case with Marvin's "Let's Get It On" being redone. The 2005 version of the song was a hit on adult R&B radio and brought Marvin's vocals further into the new millennium. In many ways, although Marvin hasn't been here physically since his death in 1984, he has remained a vocal prowess on the radio through either new songs released by those who hadn't heard the songs ("My Last Chance", "Music") and in the case of this song, a song that was given a good makeover. This version just proves to me that Marvin's music is timeless. Marvin's music also can bring people together. They transformed a song dedicated to love into a song dedicated to having a good time at a party, and of course, stepping if you want to. In many ways, it did for many listeners including me that the new version of Smokey's "Quiet Storm" probably didn't, ya dig? How you feel about this version? Did it make the song better than it was, not better, or just great in its own way? Holla at your boy.

Believe me, I also don't go for re-hackings but if you really wanna know some rare facts, the re-release of "Let's Get It On" in the version that was played helped the song get a RIAA certification for "Gold". According to some reports, "Let's Get It On" is the best-selling Motown single in the United States while his "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" is the best-selling Motown single worldwide, this is just what I heard.

Also for a rare fact, it re-appeared on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. I saw it on an actual Billboard article about it a year ago. I was like "SAY WHAT!?!" It brought Marvin another hit in the 2000's.

Is this the one from the (badly done) Motown Remixed album? Tho in that case it was titled the Da Producers MPG groove mix. It's ok but no great shakes IMO. I really don't like rehasings of great songs. I once read a David Ritz article on slate (I think) where he said that this version of the song is better then the original! I literally spat out my drink reading that. BTW here's a link to listen to the song www.motownremixed.com/main.html

 I read that like "you gotta be kidding". As Marvin said "would you dare retouch a Picasso painting after he declared it done? Hell no!" LOL David should've paid attention to Marvin.
