Al Gore at Sundance; Marvin Gaye Movie News; EW Game ShowWell, it was only a rumor, but it seems that the late life of soul singer Marvin Gaye is headed to the big screen. Jesse L. Martin, star of “Law & Order” and “Rent,” will definitely play Marvin in a biopic called “Sexual Healing.” Here’s the deal, as I get it: Since Motown won’t license the rights to Gaye’s famous records, this movie will concentrate on his last two years, when Gaye recorded for Columbia Records. This should be quite a production, as it will have to explain why Marvin’s father shot and killed him. That’s an ugly, ugly story dealing with drugs and incest. I wish the producers luck, but it’s too bad we’ll never see Marvin in his heyday or making his landmark album “What’s Going On?” Link

Puh-leeze, Motown NOT licensing his music? Why won't they let it go, they ain't done much with it. Marvin should've been like Ray Charles and owned his masters so we could get the WHOLE story, but I wonder what they're gonna do with just 2, 3 years, I'm really skeptical about this. It could be just a rumor though.

He's a great casting as an older Marvin, but I'm with the writer, I'd rather see the earlier part of his life, rather than the later.
Really I'd want to see his whole life; what's the deal with Motown :hmph:

It's no secret that Motown often make bad decisions, but maybe there is good reason in this case. Marvin went through a whole lot personally and usually people don't take the time to consider how the children will feel about certain things being put into movies/books etc regarding their parents lives. Maybe the Columbia years are the 'safest' part to go with right now

LOL, things ain't always what they seem, just remember that. And they betta do it right and get him good or I'm gonna have to laid the smackdown on somebody! It's better they just leave it alone. I rather they show his whole story and have Denzel play him or whatever, I dunno. I mean he didn't look like Malcolm X but he snagged a Best Actor Oscar nomination for that so why not. I don't believe except for Jesse (later Marvin), no actor has Marvin's younger built or shape tho. LOL

But I would still want to see what this movie is like
