SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 7, 2006--Music legend Smokey Robinson will be on hand August 11 to accept the award for "STRATEGIC BUSINESS ACUMEN" for his Smokey Robinson Foods Co., which he launched in 2004. In addition, Mr. Robinson will address over 500 corporate representatives at the Minority Business Development Agency's Annual Awards Celebration at the San Francisco's Hyatt Regency.
On July 27th, Robinson's Food Company was awarded the "One To Watch" Award from the Los Angeles District Office of the Minority Business Enterprise Center honoring the top minority businesses in Southern California.
Having received many honors over his long music career, Smokey Robinson is now being recognized for his business acumen as well. Robinson started his food company in 2004 to share the favorite foods he has enjoyed from decades of touring and performing around the world. Smokey Robinson Foods products appeal to a broad, multi-ethnic consumer base and have secured national distribution in the top three U.S. grocery chains in just two years. At present, Smokey Robinson Foods are available at over 4000 grocery outlets across the country, are distributed at military bases around the world and are serving our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The August 11th Annual Minority Enterprise Development Week Awards banquet will pay tribute to outstanding minority entrepreneurs from the eight western states.
