Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Shirelles inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Legendary soul group Gladys Knight & The Pips and popular 60s female group The Shirelles recently were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during ceremonies at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York city.
Also inducted this year during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 11th anniversary ceremony were: Little Willie John, David Bowie, Jefferson Airplane, Pink Floyd, Velvet Underground, Pete Seeger and Tom Donahue.
Pop superstar Mariah Carey presented the award to Gladys Knight & the Pips. The soul group, that has been together for 43 years, consists of Knight's brother, Merald Bubba!' K.night, and cousins, Edward Patten and William Guest. The group is known for such hits as I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Neither One Of Us, Midnight Train To Georgia and Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me.
Late R & B legend Little Willie John was posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame. Superstar entertainer Stevie Wonder presented Keith John, the late singer's son, with an award on behalf of his father, who made the rock charts with the hit song Fever, which was later done by pop singer Peggy Lee in 1958.
The '60s female quartet The Shirelles were inducted into the Hall of Fame and performed a medley of hits after their induction. The group is known for such classics as Will You Love Me Tomorrow and Soldier Boy. Singers Merry Clayton, Malianne Faithful and Darlene Love presented the award to the group.
In the past 10 years, the Hall of Fame has honored such superstars as Ike & Tina Turner, James Brown, Chuck Berry, the Four Tops, Al Green and Martha and the Vandellas.
