Thinking about what Jazz and Hits were discussing in the Marvelettes board ... And I must say ... I never thought about her joining this one ... I looked at this group a lot like the Supremes ... But today after reading that ... I was struck with the same comparison as the Marvelettes with Flo ... Who you say ... I was reading somethings and listening to a few Martha and the Vandellas songs and thought that with Martha, Rosalind and Betty ... They could have what the Temptations had ... Three lead voices ... But ... BUT ... If using the imagination of the Tops ... Used Betty or Flo on lead ... Instead of Martha ... Like they used Levi on lead (baritone) instead of the obvious (and overly used) tenor lead in Lawrence ... A very different group of ladies they could have been ... With a very different sound ...

I'm not sure what Betty sounds like and I think Rosalind had the higher pitch but Flo in this group is something I just can't see or hear, not even as a replacement lol

LOL Mo Glad you decided to rejoin But I don't know, I was thinking Flo on lead instead of Martha. I was thinking of her leading with Martha. More like the Marvelettes in their early days. It was more uniform, then, before Gordy, Jr aka Smokey. Maybe with Flo in this one they would have burst out there more, like the Marvels without the supreme treatment

I guess it would have given the Vandella's a much bigger sound to have Florence featured in the background alongside Betty and Rosalind. I imagine she would have blended well on songs like Heatwave, Jimmy Mack and In My Lonely Room.

Is Florence included in everybody's board? She was great and all, well, I guess it's better than all the Dreamgirls threads.

I got one thing to say: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I love Flo and all but come on now... I wanted Flo to sing more leads with the SUPREMES simply because she founded the group. But the Vandellas were perfect but it wouldn't hurt to have Roz and ANNETTE singing leads too. Betty, I hear, had a succulent voice but Roz's vocals were higher than hers. Anyway, like I said, "no", I just don't see it, sorry.

But you know, I just thought of something... now that you bring more leads up, maybe they could've done like the Four Tops and sing harmony work on a song together, they would've been like Labelle or the Pointer Sisters later on, a female Four Tops, which I feel they were because Levi and Martha had powerful full-throttle vocals.

Possibly Quick, but I'm with you, Flo deserved more leads and more leads released, with H-D-H within the Supremes But I guess it never hurts to wonder

It doesn't hurt to wonder but it still makes your head scratch, least it does in my book. LOL
