Her backgrounds were usually done by the Love Tones. This song's backgrounds were not them. If you can hear it or can listen What do you think of the backgrounds

I haven't listened to this one in awhile, it's turning into another over-played song. Very beautiful, but let it rest a little Now, if I remember, it's ladies and I think it works well ... ... My guy ... My guy... My guy ... From my guy ...Yeah, it sounds great

Yeah, the Andantes were singing background on "My Guy". "You Beat Me to the Punch" also wasn't done by the Love Tones, I think it was Marvin Gaye and some of the Miracles (because it sounded like men in the background, lol). That's a legendary song by the way.

I could have this back to front but I believe "My Guy" was originally written and "My Girl" was the answer song. It's amazing how Smokey could be so multifaceted like that as they're completely different sounding songs.
I also think this song is a bit overplayed. I prefer "you beat me to the punch".

I know, right? That's what makes Mary Wells a legend and a timeless one at that. :queendiva: After Mary left, Motown began losing its luster though it still had some, lol. If you know what I mean *coughDianeactingafooloneverybodylikeadivacough* .
