Well Marlene could just say she did for the heck of the glory ... but if Marlene was on the released take, there could have been other dates the song was recorded that Flo could have been on those takes...

Some Motown recording dates used to spread out between songs. Usually one session will be done and that'll be it, some took two weeks, some took three weeks, Marvin recorded "Grapevine" in three months during 1967 so... it could be possible that Flo may have been on it. But you can't really tell since HDH overdubbed the background so doggone much, lol.

Yeah, twas very convenient More convenient than say, allowing them to sing on their own releases, maybe collect royalties and such, but hey, they got their session pay, right No recognition, just speculation And the session pay or perhaps salary

Yeah and that's unfortunate we never got to hear about the Andantes as ARTISTS. Motown did them dirty in that department but they've been in more #1's and Top Ten singles than any other session group I know of.

True and about as recognized as any other session singers too, sadly Not very different from the Funk Brothers pre 2002

When is there gonna be a documentary on the Andantes? They need one as badly as the Funk Brothers did. Their story needs to be told and besides all of the three members are still alive, aren't they? It ain't too late.

That would be great, maybe with the book, they'll get some video coverage But then, maybe not The Funks were a bit more utilized than the ladies were It'd be great to have even a TV doc, though

The common bond for both the Andantes and the Funk Brothers is what they have accomplished when we look at their track record for #1 hits. I don't think it is impossible for the Andantes to have a documentary either, the message just needs to be given to people who are interested in making it all happen.

I believe on a Motown PBS special, they featured the original Andantes (or at least some of them) during the live concert.

It's Motown's fault with them putting Diane's non-singing voice on front and the other girls in the background almost shelved. Took nearly 40 years for me to hear Flo's voice clearly in "You Keep Me Hangin' On". And also Marlene Barrow sung on "My World Is Empty". But you couldn't hear her or Mary. It had once been rumored that Marlene Barrow of The Andantes filled in for Florence when she was unable to attend the recording session for "My World Is Empty Without You." This was disproved by the release of the remastered and remixed tracks utilized for the "Motown Karaoke" CD series when Ballard's and Wilson's vocals were isolated for a "karaoke" background track of the song. In this new mix, Ballard's participation was more obvious and the rumor thus disproved. Wikipedia_________________________________________________________________________ You'll do know how I feel about that site, so I'm dying to get my hands on that Karaoke CD And hear for myself
