There's no doubt in my mind that Little Mike had outstanding chops for a little kid his age, but what about his brothers' vocal abilites?? Do you think any of them could have taken a stab at I Want You Back, ABC etc and made them as great

Do you think any of them could have taken a stab at I Want You Back, ABC etc and made them as great I don't think so ... They all sounded great singing together, but li'l Mike was the man. I do love Jermaine singing "Daddy's Home", "I Am Love" and absolutely LOVE "Mama I Found That Girl"! He was no slouch on the Christmas Song (I think that's the title) and his standouts were pretty good. I can't think of anymore that he lead off the top of my head. A solid vocalist, nothing stellar. Jackie's voice was ehhhhhhhhhh, he probably needed to develop that high tenor better. I think I can hear Jermaine singing "I Want You Back", but don't know if I think it'd be a hit.

Noooooooo way!! LOL
I think Tito could sing a little bit, I never really got into Marlon and Jackie couldn't carry a tune in a bucket
Jermaine had the most potential out of the others but I don't think he could have made any of those songs bigger than Michael did :kingtheman:

Goodness Jackie can't get any love LOL
I do agree with you all about Jermaine. He was a good singer and maybe could have made turned the songs out in his own way.
But I had to ask. I was watching them on Ed Sullivan awhile ago doing I Want You Back and it still blows me away that Mike had all the confidence in the world and was working that stage like he owned it ;D
And if you listen real carefully at times you can hear his voice just lightening up the studio. I don't don't think the other guys even had that kind of projection to pull it off of at all :singlead:

I don't think the other five (including Randy) were as gifted. So, those leads were made by Mike. Maybe, just maybe, Jermaine could have did something different, but I don't know if they would have been as big hits or hits period. But together, they are really something legendary. I always loved the J5 :luvyababe:

Michael had what they call the midas touch. None of the others to me could ever sound better than he did. Jermaine was ok but a big someting was still missing.

Unlike many of the groups at Motown with two or more strong lead singers, the brothers had one.
I think Michael was the only one that could sing lead on their songs and have a successful solo career.
Jermaine had leads, but I don't think he was a lead singer.
