Yeah I know... I hate that gravely voice son-of-a-gun, that's why I nicknamed him, lol. @ Michael Bolton...

BUT I can imagine each of the groups - the Andantes, the Vandellas and the Supremes - on a lot of tracks that they weren't featured and turned it out. That just reminded me of something, on the Lost & Found I can't tell who's backing him up on Love's More Precious Than Gold. It's my favourite song on there but I'm stuck between the Supremes or Vandellas - any takers?? lol It is the Martha and the Vandella's. The song was recorded in '63 plus, halfway through the song Martha comes out on top of everybody

What's this about I guess I'd go with the Andantes, Marvin's stuff doesn't really move me until he started doing more stuff like Curtis Mayfield, James Brown (having a message), Sly & the Family Stone; well more like Donny Hathaway, actually.

LOL, so you dig the '70s Marvin more than the '60s too, huh? :cheezy: And yeah, Marvin and Donny were the same type of artist emotionally, I agree with that. That's why their music was more personal than Curtis, James and Sly's. I loved when Marvin did his own background vocals. Though he wasn't the FIRST one, he made multi-tracking vocals a trademark. I'll always admire him for that. He became a revolutionary after What's Going On as I said earlier.

There are some gems in the 60's material that can move you ((Honey)) ... but I have always seen Marvin and Donny on the same level and never really put one over the other, once I really delved into their music ...

Exactly, there was something special about Marvin in all the decades of his career.
