Ok, since this is the day we're supposed to give our thanks to God Almighty (which should be all day every day when you wake up, lol), I should give a special topic to Marvin's unreleased rendition of "His Eye on the Sparrow" from 1968. You can actually hear Marvin singing some of the song from his VH-1 Legends documentary and it was about time I heard the full version on his "Gold" greatest hits album and it's just amazing. Marvin, again, was a SANGER and he made you feel what he was singing. He could sing everything and he definitely had his touch on gospel. I would've loved it if Marvin had done gospel albums like Al and Aretha. Though he has done some gospel-like songs after 1968 like "God is Love" (at a time when you couldn't sing about anything except for Jesus), "Sparrow", "Everybody Needs Love", "Love Party" (it had some spiritual lyrics there) and "Joy". I just thought I post a topic about this. I'm listening to the song right now. "I sing, people I can sing my song, whoa, because I'm happy... I sing my song because I'm free, whoa... Oh Jesus, Jesus, Jesus 'Cause his eye is on, yes it is, his eye is on the sparrow And I know... Jesus, Jesus, Jesus watches meeeeeeeeeee!!!"

When Motown does Gospel, there is no bones about it! They bring the Gospel home and give all their guts and energy. End of story.
Motown + Gospel = A-freakin-mazing

Actually my favorite of Marvin's gospel songs is "Everybody Needs Love" from his Here, My Dear album. You catch the holy spirit just from the "you were made from love" coda. And I love it when Marvin "preaches", lol.
