Only one artist who was there from the beginning, transcended the game of R&B, soul and the label and changed the face of rock & roll and soul music and all of that and was definitely a symbol of MOTOWN:

An artist, group or particular musician that oozes that aura that is Motown For me, hands DOWN Martha & the Vandellas. Their songs are definite SYMBOLS of Motown. I would say all of the classic period artists oozed the aura in their own way on many different songs, but the main pick IMO would be the Funks as a collective unit - if ya know what I mean. I think they are the aura that we know as Motown :band:
