LOL Now you know I agree with you Timmy Growing up, I couldn't really look up to them as role models or images of Black beauty, though. To be from the so-called projects, that is not what they put off (you know, homegirls who finally made it) or who we viewed them as. The only girls from the projects that went to those extremes were the fakes, wannabes and herbs. And even with all of this, Flo stood out as a real girl. She didn't seem to be 'putting on' as we said. It was like, this is 'part of the game' to Flo. She didn't talk with airs about her or in a phoney voice, which I always thought Mary and Diane did and do. She stood out even in the fairytale as a real lady, not a lady that had to add drama to make her even be noticed. The eyes on Di and teeth on May were noticable enough, but they had to 'showboat' to get noticed. And it still didn't work with us, Florence was Supreme. And she still is

Yeah, after surveying the Supremes for years, I came to that conclusion that it was Florence Ballard who epitomized what Mary J. Blige would resemble today: as a project girl who made it out and became an international music superstar. Florence was the reason the Supremes became what they became regardless of who sung lead or who lasted the longest in the group. Florence was the beat, the heart, the soul and the voice of the Supremes and hopefully Flo's movie gets out before we hear word of Diane's and/or Mary's because their histories are screwed up: Diane forgot totally where she came from and Mary don't know 1 + 1 is 2.

LOL Quick, man you're on point  However, can we say what Whitney resembled, please...I appreciate some of Mary's music, but resemble Flo Only the project and superstar part. What about the talent man, what about the gift

But I think what he means is how Flo came from the projects and through all of the fame and fortune didn't forget where she came from unlike Diana and Mary who fed into the fantasy that they were the greatest thing since sliced bread and were going to be on top forever.

Yeah, Watchout, that's what I meant. Of course I didn't mean it by talent. In that case, Whitney should be rightfully compared to Flo then. :cheesy:

She almost overshadowed Diane in "You Keep Me Hangin' On" fa real.

You can hear how they raised the vocals on Di and it still didn't work In the book "All That Glitter",Tony stated that Flo made sure she was heard on "You Keep Me Hanging On". She wasn`t about to let Ross drown her voice out.
