What exactly is it about Motown Songs that pull you in and make you want to listen? Is it the way a song is written or arranged??
Is it the delivery of one particular singer or the harmony of a group??
Is it the musical stylings of the Funk Brothers as a unit or just one man jammin' on his own??
Or could it simply be what the Music itself stood for at such a time in History??
Let me know people: Why Do You Appreciate Motown Music?

I know this has been a while coming, BUT- Motown was so much for us. It was fun. It was work. It was happy. It was sad. It was learning. It was thinking. It was a group and it was that singer. We always loved the back beats, that was what made ya move, drew ya in; it went all through ya. It was everything and it was that one thing. And even today, if it doesn't remind me of something, I just totally go back. It's an amazing thing. That the music of some very talented individuals brought so much to so many lives and still does. It's a timeless creation. And it reached so many and touched so many hearts. Especially mine

Another thread I almost overlooked It is hard for me to put into words ((Kay)) but for a large part what I appreciate the most about Motown is the way it brought people together...and still does The songs just make you feel good .... it is the overall combination of lyrics, singers, arangments etc that not only touches your heart but your soul :justlisten:

Motown epitomized what we as a Black community can do to uplift each other in the name of music. And the music was great music, it made you forget about your problems, you learned how to appreciate love and you knew if the beat was funky, soulful and/or just a good rock & roll beat. They also melded the styles of R&B, soul, rock & roll, funk, jazz, blues, classical music and all of that together and made something that should be and will be cherished 50 years down the line.
