Official word from HW
Sometimes, like with other artists on the long Motown wish list, what we as fans want are the original albums back in print once and for all.(Click back to MotownSelect.com in the coming months.) Then there's the next steps, like a Lost & Found or something that may come down the pike in the years ahead.
As far as live material, there are literally dozens if not hundreds of live recordings in the Motown vault. While many of them, including Tammi Terrell @ the Roostertail, have nothing to do with a Motortown Revue tour, the Revue shows are copious. Managing them into a "bonus track" list or inserting them into the original albums would have killed this project on several levels, including an aesthetic one; attempting that had already delayed it for quite a while.
The Motortown Revue Collection presents that original experience of owning the albums (with some of those early, shaky performances) - whether you did, wanted to, or just missed it - with three of the four albums on CD for the first time ever. You'll be able to get them all in one shot, in a package created especially for Motown collectors, along with a bonus of having the program(s) as a souvenir.

I wish they'd release more of these "sets" as single CDs

What would really be great is if they put the footage on DVD.
That would really be something :singing:

Footage would be nice as a double with a single CD :frustration:
