The Four Tops, who signed with the label in 1963, were one of Motown's premiere male groups.
Renaldo "Obie" Benson, Abdul "Duke" Fakir, Lawrence Payton, and Levi Stubbs stood the test of time; one of the few groups that can boast of never having a personnel change. The group remained indestructible during their 40+ years of performing together, until the death of Lawrence Payton in 1997.
